Disk
I/O Error:
Answer a few
questions and get our pricing special. A disk I/O error usually means data cannot be written to the hard disk. Either software
that has been installed has prevented the write operation or the hard disk
itself is corrupted.
To recover from a Disk I/O error you need to repair the corrupted sectors. There are several ways to do it, including running "chkdsk" however this sometimes results in further corruption. The ‘Hard Drive Mechanic’ is the simplest way to identify this problem. The Mechanic will diagnose your firmware to determine if it is functioning properly and you will be able to look at the files on the drive to insure that they are intact. If for instance you see garbage when running the mechanic your drive is corrupted and beyond the scope of software. Conversely if you see legible files such as in the image below the screen with corruption you have a far greater chance of fixing your problem. ![]() |
